Name, legal form, first site — the foundation is in place

The last few weeks were about foundations you only want to lay once, properly: what the company is called, what legal form it currently operates under, and how it presents itself externally. All three questions are now settled.

Name

The house brand is Firn, communicated as “Firn Stack.” The certification seal runs under its own name: RVS — Residual Value Standard. The separation is deliberate — a certification standard needs to be perceived as a neutral authority, independent of the house brand that originally built it.

The original working title was systematically checked against existing trademarks and usages before the final decision. Conclusion: better a name change now than a collision later.

Legal form

The operating base is a UG founded back in 2024 — not a fresh start, no idle time for early funding applications. The final legal form (conversion vs. new incorporation) is deliberately not yet decided: that question will only be settled once a co-founder joins, rather than locking in a structure now that would need to be revisited anyway.

First website

firn.build is live — bilingual (DE/EN), built as a static site directly from the git repository, deployed via Cloudflare Pages. No separate CMS, no parallel wiki: the website is itself a repo, matching the thesis that the company as a whole is a git organization. Three paths for different audiences — developers/manufacturers, banks/surveyors, founders/talent — plus this journal channel, which will now report on completed work quarterly.

This entry is also the first run of the journal process itself: curated, generalized, and subject to approval before publication.
